Things you should know about IU’s Little 500

Don’t get me wrong, I’m still young when it comes to Little 5 experience. I’m only a sophomore, but I’ve already learned some valuable lessons regarding the biggest weekend in IU’s school year. Little 500 Week officially starts today, but for those out there who haven’t yet experienced it, I thought it would be nice to give you some pointers, so here goes.
Yes, Little 5 is one big party, but it’s better to know some things about it ahead of time.

This year’s Little 500 brings an array of musical performers here to Bloomington. Although normally the acts are very diverse, this year’s selection has a distinct emphasis on hip-hop, specifically the crunk, club banging, and mostly lyrically deficient version. Nevertheless, these performers are bound to bring exciting performances to campus. For those who are not hip-hop fans, there are still some quality bands coming to town from other genres.

Crean’s lucrative contract is a major accomplishment for Indiana
The $18.24 million deal has a pay scale that ranged from $2 million in the first year to $2.56 million in the eighth year, increasing by $80,000 annually. The school already spent $650,000 to buy out his contract from Marquette, and will provide him two vehicles for his use. Tom Crean’s arrival as IU basketball’s new coach will probably result in more than just a change in the head coaching position. It is likely that Crean will assemble a new coaching staff minus at least two decorated assistant coaches from this year.
McCallum is one Hoosier assistant who’s looking to be a head coach
One of those assistant coaches is of course Dan Dakich, who served as interim head coach between former coach Kelvin Sampson’s abrupt departure and the recent hiring of Crean from Marquette.
